I read your book. What I liked in that was the way you have addressed the exact problem, i.e. emotions of people for daughters. You have tried to invoke that love and respect for girl child which remains dormant in parents heart. Your approach is focusing on the root cause, it is not superficial like a law to ban female feticide. This feeling to give birth to girl child should come from within, it should not be forced by external factors.

Having said that, I want to ask you one question here ..
What do you think of the law to ban female feticide ?
Don't you think it should be at the discretion of parents to allow the birth of baby or not ? Its a very personal thing and people should have right to do whatever they want with their own body part (fetus) as it is dependent on them for survival. There is a law which states that you can cut a tree till it is not 8 ft tall, but after a tree is 8 ft tall, it is considered to be self reliant so its not dependent on you, so its illegal to cut it!
If this analogy sounds unfair to you, let me explain in other way...

There was a time in USA during 1970s when the crime rate was just going high day by day and seemed to not cease. Experts predicted that with such soaring crime rate it will be impossible to live a civil life. But then, to their surprise, after 1980 the crime rate started coming down, without any major action by govt. No one was able to find what had gone 'right' and why was crime rate coming down... can you guess the reason ?
Here it is : Abortion was illegal in USA till 1966, and after that it was made legal. So before 1966, even if a woman doesn't want to give birth to her baby, because of whatever reason, such as single parenting, lack of money, lack of maturity, absence of commitment, etc, she did not have a choice. The 'unwanted' child was born, and that child was of course not raised well, which resulted in addition in number of criminals. But after 1966, such unwanted babies were not born and that showed result after 14 years.

You never know, female feticide may be nature's way to control unwanted population. It may be nature's way to gradually extinct those emotionless races who indulge in female feticide.

Don't mind, I am just thinking aloud !
